Cricket Hell

Hello annoying crickets,As you start your nightly racket.Making all that noise out there,When I see one I should smack it.
My early morning coffee,In winter is serene. Then warmer mornings wakes them up,So I get to hear them scream.
I think you rub your legs to “sing”,As crazy as that sounds. But after time it’s way too much,And offends my ears I’ve found. A single cricket singing out,Is lovely in the evening. One note strummed a jillion times,A boring song it's weaving.
A single trilling cricket,Chirping before the dawn.Closing out his work day,Somewhere in the lawn. But in my yard as nighttime falls,The chirping concert swells.A thousand chirper’s rubbing noise,The racket sounds like hell.
Must be a million in my yard,A loud and deafening chorus.Drowning out my thoughts of peace,Your racket plays out for us.
Not only crickets making noise,The katydids sing out too.Disputing in once quiet air,The louder of the two.
Screeching noise as hours pass,I’m shutting window panes.Adding ear plugs now and then,And wishing it would rain.
I understand your rubbing legs, For scraping out your songs. To your ladies in the thickets,A sexy come along.
I cannot stop the nature there,The sound be what it may,Just have to wait til daylight,For the noise to go away. * * *
